  • European Youth Cup Ratho, Edinburgh 2012
    The first IFSC European Youth Cup (EYC) of the year is being held at EICA Ratho, Edinburgh over the weekend of 18th - 20th May. The event involves both Speed and Lead climbing events for male and female junior, youth A and youth B categories.
  • Warning: rockfall at Tremadog
    A significant rockfall has occurred on the top half of the route Borneo, at the BMC owned and managed cliff, Craig Bwlch y Moch at Tremadog.

Sandstone Rocks

In  Sussex  we are fortunate to have access to several Southern Sandstone crags. These areas are great venues for climbers of all abilities.
Outdoor Adventure Warehouse offers courses from an introduction to outdoor climbing through to preparation courses for anyone wanting to obtain NGB awards in climbing as well as group sessions. These Sandstone outcrops are very fragile and there are very strict rules to be observed when climbing on them.  For more information about the Southen Sandstone outcrops have look at the BMC website:

Sandstone Climbing Fundamentals

This 1 day course is ideal for anyone wanting to learn the fundamental skills to set up top ropes and begin climbing Southern Sandstone themselves. This course teaches the solid set of skills needed to get out and start  climbing and is a mix of ground school lessons along with lots of actual rock climbing! One of the prerequisites of this course is that you must be proficient to be able to belay safely and confidently.
